What is going on with the luggage surcharge and American Airlines. I understand that the price of fuel is going sky high. So catch a clue and just raise the price of your tickets. I think people would rather pay up front for their ticket than be nickel and dime'd to death with all these crazy surcharges. Does American Airlines thinks people who travel don't need luggage. And if people learn to fit everything into their carry-on bags. There will be a lot of bags being gate checked at the last minute because all of the overheads will be full.
I feel the same way about providing a decent snack on a flight. Put the cost of a can of soda and a decent sized bag of chips or trailmix in the cost of the ticket. I am traveling and don't want to look for snacks in the airport. Catch a clue and do the little things right. It makes all the difference in the world.
My favorite hotel brand/chain to stay in while on the road is Homewood Suites by Hilton. There are several reasons I like this chain. First the rooms are comfortable with space to make yourself at home. The rooms have a fridge, microwave, dishwasher and stove top. Now I don't cook on the road, but it is nice to be able to take my doggie bag from the restaurant throw it in the fridge and eat it a day or two later. The rooms are well furnished and the beds are comfortable. The price of the room includes breakfast 7 days a week and a lite dinner monday through Thursday. And the food is good. I am on a per diem and what I don't spend I get to keep so the free meals allow me to bank some extra cash each week. And Hilton does a good job of working to ensure your satisfaction. If I have a problem they usually do not hesitate to resolve it to my satisfaction. Using reward points, free room service etc to make up for the problem.
